Miss Philippines Megan Young Wins Miss World 2013

Megan Young makes history for being the first Filipino to win the elusive Miss World 2013 crown. The crowning ceremony was held at Bali, Indonesia on September 28, 2013 and was joined by 127 contestants all over the world. Megan has been the favorite for the crown the moment she arrive in Bali. The conviction became stronger when she was chosen to be as one of the semi-finalists for the Beach Beauty Fashion, top 10 for Beauty With A Purpose and Top 10 for Top Model, for which she was declared as the winner. She also had the top score when the Top 10 over-all semi-finalists were announced. She wore a coral gown made by Filipino designer Francis Libiran. She looked very elegant while gliding on the stage. In 3rd place was the black beauty from Ghana and it second place was Miss France.

Her victory is good news to all Filipinos amidst the PDAF scandal and Zamboanga war.

From Fun Run to Insidious 2

"Titakbo Water Dash 2013", which was held at the University of the Philippines Oval last September 22, 2013,  was my first fun run of the year! Yahooo! A few weeks ago I blogged about my warm-up with Jameson in preparation for the said fun run. Over-all, the experience was fun. What is more fun than running at 6 AM in the morning while a typhoon is striking the Philippines? Lol.

Ghie, Jameson and I met as early as 3:45 AM in KFC Cubao. It was so uncomfortable because the rain was pouring on and off that morning. We were the early birds on the venue as we were the first ones to ever arrive at 4:00 AM. The sponsors were just setting-up that time. We were then informed that the event's first gun start for 16k runners was re-scheduled at 6 AM due to the delay caused by the rain. Our other friends Jackei and Mavs soon arrived. Thanks to Mavs for buying some siopao and water for us as we were starving while waiting on the benches. The program started with a warm-up exercise for all the participants. We were given our water guns, which I think, is unnecessary anymore because of the rain. The gun start officially started at 6 AM for the 16k runners. Jameson and Jackie were up for this category. Then followed by the 5k runners at 6:30 AM and then the 3K runners (Ghie, Mavs and Me) at 7 AM. The heavy rain started to fall during our gun start, good thing I have my hoody. It's a blessing in disguise that Mr, Jameson failed to accommodate my jacket in his bag. Hahaha!

Though it was raining hard, I was in full spirit. I started quite ahead of the pack. Unfortunately, I misread one of the signages as I was about to turn because the marshall holding the banner was busy fixing something thereby folding the banner. I went left when it should've been right. Quite surprised that I was already in the finish line. So I thought maybe I need another round. I bumped into another marshall and asked if I'm done already and they replied as long as you're done with the one round then you're ok. What on earth!!! So I needed to go back to the finish line, which I guess was several meters from where the marshalls are. As soon as I reached the finish line again, there were a lot of commotions, several runners were lost and complaining about the event. There I found out I was also lost and that I needed to do another round. I didn't have any choice and I knew I was already way behind the other 3K runners. On my last fun run, I clocked at roughly 21 minutes for the 3K event but this time I finished roughly at 32 minutes. Quite disappointed because I knew I could've done better than my previous performance.

We settled down after the fun, refreshed ourselves and waited for the 16k runners to finish. The freebies were quite disapponting too - a small chippy, a not-so-nice tasting tetrapak coconut juice, and 2-pieces of bread. I said that's ok, the t-shirt compensated for that. hahaha.

It was still fun despite the disappointments and the unfortunate events because it was my first time running under the rain with friends. I guess what's important is that I was able to finish the run with the camaraderie of my friends. Congratulations to our 16K runners! That was a tough event! Especially to Mr. Jameson for winning a medal as recognition for being included in the top 150 16K runners. Bravo! So proud of him!

We were starving after the fun run and as planned we went to Marikina to try this famous Filipino delicacy "Kare-Kareng Bagnet". Unfortunately. the restaurant was closed so we ended up eating at Quiza Cafe which is just right in front of the Bagnet resto. I love this place! The food was great. I ordered Chicken Cordon Bleu and though it's raining cold, I was craving for ice cold coke! Hahaha! Solved! I was too full at the moment. Thanks to the girls for sharing their pizza and cake as jameson and I were on another table because Jameson felt "claustrophobic" sharing the table with them. (Even if we were outside, open air..hahahaha).

After lunch, the girls went home while Jameson and I went to see a movie at Sta. Lucia Mall. As planned we watched Insidious 2 at the Sta. Lucia cinema. We were at the mall pass 1 PM and so while waiting for the movie scheduled at 2:50 PM, we had some snacks at the food court. Jameson said he was hungry (Whaat??? hungry again just right after lunch? No wonder he's tummy has gotten bigger). So I ordered some crab salad, fried gyoza, takoyaki balls and chocolate sundae. I only ate roughly 1 1/2 pcs of the takoyaki and a teasepoon of the sundae then the rest was his.

The movie was good! It was indeed scary. I was initially anxious that it would be a challenge for me to comprehend the storyline because I didn't watch Insidious 1. But as the story unfolds, I as able to comprehend and complete the missing pieces of the puzzle with the tidbits provided by Jameson. It's so embarassing though that my mate Jameson had the loudest scream in the premiere seats. (Wahahahaha!!!!). At times, I was also scared as I'm being astonished by the sound effects that I would cling to my mate. It was a worthy movie after all!

Jameson couldn't properly walk due to muscle pains brought about by the run so we have to leave and walk out of the cinema slowly. We were planning to videoke pa sana but we were so exhausted and decided to go home.

It was a great weekend over-all! I hope Jackie would post the pics soon.

Reminiscing My PEP Squad Moments

National University makes history as they bagged the most-coveted spot during the 2013  UAAP Cheer Dance competition that was held at the SM Mall of Asia on September 15, 2013. This was their first win for the said event. A lot of people were anticipating for UP to reclaim their title but there were a lot of faults in their performance. Second place for UP is not bad though I was expecting DLSU to be on second place. I was not expecting for UP to be in the top 3. What I love about UP was their costume. Looks like very designer for me. I wonder if they were tailored by Cinco or Libiran or Tolentino. Hahaha.

National University has emerged as the clear winner of the competition. I am not technically inclined with the cheer dancing rules but their routine was very strong. Their stunts, tumbling, pyramids and choreography were just over the top. Their stunts were perfectly executed and they've showcased something new, something has not been done before and I guess that's what impressed the judges. In a competition like this you need to be innovative and creative. Using the same routine makes it boring. Watch the video here:

This reminds of me of a time in my life when I joined the pep squad during my Sykes days. I really didn't had a choice 'coz the support team needs a representation to battle out with the agents in the different segments. I was really hesitant but during the process, I realized it was fun. I remember we would use the sleeping room to practice our dance moves every after shift. We hired a coach and we had our costumes done (which I remember was red and white). I was really quite excited. Sometimes when I think of those moments, I was like. OMG! did I really do that? Did I really do the tumbling? Hahaha. Most memorable part was being on top of the pyramid. Since I was the skinniest among all, I remember stepping on the legs of two girls as I flaunt the banner of our team during the finale. I was on top of the world! Wahahaha. Should I be proud? or should I be embarassed?...But seriously, that was fun! I wish I could find the pics and the vid.

#MakingMEGA in South America

MEGA Magazine makes history as they publish the thickest mag in the Philippines with 400 pages. This month's issue features one of the country's most influential and biggest star, Ann Curtis. I saw the image of the cover a few weeks ago while browsing through my Facebook and I must say, Ann looked so gorgeous. There were actually two versions of the shot. One was an ethereal cover with Ann wearing a Peruvian hat, which was shot in Peru. The other one was a high fashion cover shot in a famous tiled stairway in Brazil. The shots were flawless and breathtaking. But what caught my attention was this documentary video that was directed by Michael Carandang, who happens to be the guy behind showcasing the talents of some Filipino designers (i.e. Francis Libiran, Michael Cinco) in America's Next Top Model. The docu was able to capture the behind-the-scenes during a 9-day shoot in South America, travelling to Brazil and Peru. It shows the challenges, hardships, resourcefulness, creativity and cohesiveness of the crew during the entire period. Indeed, the fashion world is not all about glam. The front covers of a magazine may show the most amazing poses but behind that was super hard work from the people who have relentlessly invested their time and talent. The video just inspires me.

Friday the 13th Thoughts

For most, Friday the 13th is all about bad omen. But for me, today is more on thoughts. Irrelevant but interesting.

The Sweet Talker.
An unexpected person from the past suddenly messages you in Facebook and tells you that he was thinking of you a while back. Surprising isn't it? And then tells you that you were the best he's ever had, and that if he comes over you're the first one on his list, and gives you the best complements that are music to your ears. Only to realize that this was the person who played with your emotions in the past. Then laughing out loud, you told yourself "that won't work anymore!".

The Deceiver.

A shocking revelation from someone you didn't expect to be "that kind of person". Three words to best describe this person - Curiosity, Exploration and Secrecy. Well, in this life, I've learned that people can be deceiving. What you see outside doesn't necessarily reflect the inside. This can be in terms of emotions, interests, etc.

The Confused.

Have you ever had that feeling that you've held onto something for so long and then suddenly you realized and asked yourself, is it worth it? Did I make the right decision? Did I make the right choice? The feeling of uncertainty just bugs you whether to stick around just a little bit longer or just to let loose and let go. It's hard, but you need to make a choice.

The Ultimatum.

The feeling that you wanted to set an ultimatum. But in the end you always bend that ultimatum and give chances because of the benefit of the doubt.

The Masochist.
You over-think and over-imagine of what things could possibly be. Your thoughts have become so real, you palpitated and forcefully got rid of those thoughts because it hurts already. And then you realize and tell yourself "Geeez, what's my problem?, why am I hurting myself?"

The Itchy.

A rumor that never dies and hunts you at times and yet you get affected even if you don't have the right to be, because that person is just living his recreational life. You feel that itch to ask and confront the person but you don't just have the guts to do it. You are not binded nor committed so that person has the right to explore. Anyways, it's just a rumor. Believe it when admitted by the subject.

The Business Partner.

What about an ex- who persuades you to become his business partner? Would you take it? Or an ex- who proposes a financial project. Would you invest on it knowing about the risks?

LSS at the Moment

Wondering what's on my song playlist recently?  What makes me LSS (Last Song Syndrome) at the moment?

1. SKYFALL by Paolo Onesa

The song is currently number 1 at iTunes Philippines. Originally owned by the superstar Adele, this song was performed by Paolo Onesa during the Voice of PH live shows where he actually won over Lee Grane. Adele's version was off course, incomparable but Paolo made it his own. Simple, raw and beautiful. I've just downloaded this song from iTunes.

2. APPLAUSE by Lady Gaga

The first single on Lady Gaga's upcoming album "ArtPop". I was not really hooked into it the first time I heard it but playing the song repeatedly just rejuvenates my energy. Best part is the chorus! It just wanna makes me sing and dance.

3. ROAR by Katy Perry

The first single on Katy Perry's upcoming album "Prism". I like this song better than "Applause", got used to it so much and so I kinda slipped it off the 3rd spot for now. Haha! This is definitely a big hit. Unbeatable at the US iTunes charts for weeks now. The song's message is all about being broken but then being empowered as the chorus fiercely roars..."you're gonna hear me ROOOAAARRR!!!"

4. HOW COULD AN ANGEL BREAK MY HEART by Toni Braxton

This song is kinda outdated but I just love it. I just love how Toni sings the song with pain and jealousy and with agony. One of my fave ballads.

5. JUST A FOOL by Christina Aguilera feat, Blake Shelton

What can I say? Perfect duet. A bold move for Xtina to crossover to country but she did a fantastic job. If you're on "emo" mode, then listen tot his song. I just love how the song starts..."another shot of whiskey please bartender. Keep it coming 'til I don't remember at all. How bad it gurts when you're gone".

Now, I wanna go videoke!

Got To Believe in Magic

Whatta boring Tuesday! Got home early after work and faced my laptop. I did the usual stuff read the news, checked my FB, browsed through my twitter, played some videos and played
music...nothing extraordinary. Suddenly, Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo's Star Magic Ball pic caught my attention. KathNiel, as what the fans call them, looked very nice together. Perfect couple. I suddenly reckoned that they have an on-going TV series which is "Got to Believe". It was a movie back in the decade starred by Claudine Baretto and Rico Yan and now ABS-CBN (the #1 network in the country) is making it a tele-series. Watching the trailer, it seems to have a different storyline as compared to the actual movie. I was kinda hesitant to watch it first because I find the "perya" setting corny or should I say not so-interesting. Moreover, what I hate about Filipino TV series is the stereo-typical "childhood" flashback days at the beginning of the series. Fortunately, when I decided to watch it for the first time today, they're done with the flashback thingy. Kathryn, who plays the role of Chichay was hired as the "Yaya" of Joaquin as played by Daniel Padilla. Joaquin is such a "sutil" boy making all his previous Yayas leave as they can't take his behavior! I can't wait how the story unfolds now that Chichay is the new Yaya of Joaquin. They have a perfect chemistry and every scene just makes me giggle and smile (really? at my age? hahaha). Quite a stress-reliever for me who works on a grave yard shift. I like the part when they repeatedly showed Chichay saying "Sorry Po" and bowing to Joaquin, so cute gesture. The series just lightens-up your mood and makes your heart smile. The theme song was superb as sang by Juris. It makes you fall in love for the nth time around. With the perfect ensemble, right sound track and cute story line, Got to Believe will definitely roar in the ratings game!

Eat. Run. Love (A One-Day Saga)

As promised. I'm gonna try my best to blog as often as possible. So how was my weekend? Well, it was quite fun and healthy in a way. Highlight of the day was warming-up for the upcoming TikTakbo fun run on September 22, 2013 at the UP Campus. Mr. Jameson and I have decided to prep-up for the event since we have not run for quite sometime now. My last run was last year (I can't even remember the date) that was held at SM MOA. Jameson has gained some tummy and needs to loosen-up a bit. Hahaha. Good luck on your 16K! My weekend all started at Eastwood. We planned to meet at 1 AM (well actually he set the time) and I was there earlier at 11:45 PM 'coz I don't wanna leave too late. Strolled around the area, walked in the park and did some sight seeing (as if I don't see the place everday!). I was magnetized by the music playing in Agave and so since I'm a little bit tired walking, I thought of chilling-out for a short moment and ordered a glass of Coco-Lychee Margarita. As the clock ticks at 1 AM, Jameson is still nowhere to be found. 1:20 AM, no-show! 1:40 AM, Nada!. I said maybe my boo is still busy putting up his BB cream and styling his Jonathan Yabut (not Manalo!) hair! Though the music is nice, I got bored 'coz I have no one to talk too. Thanks to the waiter, Daniel, for giving me his time and building some rapport and for...should I say..."flirting" with me??? hahaha. He said he recognized me as I was there last week. Clock ticks 2 AM, still no signs of the VIP coming. I'm feeling kinda tipsy already. Daniel asked me if I want to order another glass, I resisted 'coz our next itinerary was Something Fishy (I need to have an empty stomach so I could enjoy the unlimited buffet). Heaven's door finally opened at around 2:30 AM, Mr. Jameson Nagrampa Lacsamana has finally arrived. Hallelujah! What was supposed to be "short moment" became an hour and a half of waiting. Well, I guess I have to be used to it, as they say "Better Late than Never". Is this your way of revenge since I was late last week? Hahaha.

EAT.

Then we're off to Something Fishy. We want to make bawi this time 'coz we weren't really able to enjoy and maximize our meal last week 'coz we were so much bloated with the unlimited Strawberry Margarita in Agave. But this time it was kinda worth it. Unlike Jameson who actually got tons of rice and mixing it with Macaroni, green Gelo and Paladusdos ( geez is that what you call it? sticky rice rolled in coconut shreds?) in one plate, I took the time of getting a small portion of each cuisine and organizedly position them on my plate. For me, food presentation matters! While my mate's plate was a mess with garbage presentation! (wahaha...why not pour the champorado on your rice as dressing next time!!!), I was taking the time to savor my food. After finishing my main course,  I had some French toast, pan cake with choco syrup garnished with mallows and candy sprinkles, biko, green gelo, and fruits. It was a superb meal but Mr. Jameson did not finish his rice! Gosh, you better watch the Grave of Fireflies again!. Now, I'm craving! Damn!..And off course, as usual, we had lot of discussion during the course of the meal. We love to fight you know! Trivial issues that Mr Jameson will always exacerbate to the extremes!. He's the great opposition! Well I guess, it's not us if there's no debate. Right, Tayguts????

RUN.

It was raining when we left Eastwood to go to Marikina Sports Complex. I was like, OMG, not now! Pls don't ruin our warm-up. But then the moment we arrived and entered the complex premises, the raindrops slowly faded faded and the sun started to shine a bit. Thank God! And so we changed to our running outfits and did some stretching before we run on the oval. They say, the oval's size was 800 meters total. So for someone like me who's running a 3KM -distance, I need to complete roughly 4 rounds on the oval. If my Math is right, 1000 meters is equal to 1 KM. And for someone like Mr. Jameson who's running a 16KM-distance, he needs to complete 20 full rounds on the oval. Again, Mr. Jameson, that's 20 and neither 7 nor 8 only! You have to trim down your tummy boo! Hahaha. There's that heaviness that slows down every stride you make and you easily get tired. Get rid of that baggage mate! You were a graceful runner with full of speed before. Well, in case anything happens to you during the actual run, I'm there nman..(knock on wood) hihihi. After finishing a few rounds, I decided to rest and sat on the bleachers and guess what everytime Jameson passes by, all I can see is him singing. I was like, was he rehearsing his vocal cords instead??? You should've told me it's a vocal warm-up and not a fun run warm-up, we could've gone to Karaoke Republic instead! Hahaha. Thanks to Emil's sour gummy worms, it kept me going! hehehe

LOVE.

While we were resting on the bleachers, we had a discussion again. It's about love....that's right L-O-V-E...but oops!, don't get me wrong, it's not like about him and me..wahaha!...it's about having experienced the most painful thing in love and yet you still hold on to that concept of love. It all started when told a story about his 2 friends who have been a couple for 10 years but broke up. Sad ending. But they were able to find their own new lovers in a very short period of time. Interesting how they were able to move on that fast. Per Mr Jameson, the other party was not used to being alone. In a way I've learned a few things from Mr Jameson. (so you're now the Love Guru??). Top 3 lessons of love for the day:

1. Learn from the past. Learn a lesson from your previous relationship.
2. Don't be a cheap product who is being patronized by a lot of consumers. (Hirap i-explain here pero gets ko..hehehe)
3. Doing s_x (censored! bka ma-MTRCB ako), doesn't need emotions all the time. If you like the person then go for it. (ok, I won't preserve myself anymore hahaha)

But at the end...Yes, I'm still the hopeless romantic.

So much for the cheezy stuff. As an icebreaker should I say, we thought of names to call each other. While mine was Beh, Boo, Mahal ko...Mr Jameson prefers Cutie, Lover boy, Sexy, Hottie..wahaha...sooo conceited!..I'd rather call you Tayguts!!!

Well, so much about love and name-calling, our day ended with a refreshing Halo-Halo with Ice Cream in Chowking. My mate was in a rush to go home so as not to miss the flop Variety Show, S.A.S. (joke lng sa flop wahaha).

*** Sorry, no pictures. My clone phone damaged my SD card again. Damn!

It's Been A While

Wow!!!, my blog is still alive. I'm down memory lane. So sad, some of the old pictures are not visible anymore. Probably it's a technical glitch when I imported everything from multiply.com (which happens to be dead now!). I miss blogging. I miss capturing my moments. I miss being inspired and motivated. I love to tell my stories. I want to inspire people (Chos!).  A lot of things have transpired during the past year and how I wish I was able to capture them on this blog. Well, better late than never. I can still catch-up. Looking at the Older Posts, just brings back a lot of memories in the past. Amazing feeling....So where am I bound to? I don't know, I'm uncertain. But one thing's for sure, I'm here to stay :0 Aja!
One of my recent pics.
