Teppanyaki Cravings

Craving for Teppanyaki today after I saw some of my pictures with Zel in Kuala Lumpur waiting for our order to be served. I''ve been to a few of their outlets in Pavillion Mall and Sungei Wang but for some reasons, Mid-Valley outlet is the best. It is a Japanese food (like Tokyo Tokyo) but they cook it in front of you. I soooo love the beef and chicken teryaki as well as the salmon and the veggies.  Kaya naman jam-packed ang resto na ito everytime na pupunta kami. I am not sure though if they have an outlet here in Manila. can someone tell me?....I know there's a Malaysian resto in cubao that I've been wanting to try (RASA in Araneta) and they say there is another one in Farmer's Plaza. Pero I'm really craving for this Teppanyaki. Whenever I go out with my friends, I always prefer to eat in an oriental resto pero nothing compares with Teppanyaki.

HINDUJA Peeps

Locations: Yellow cab, Sbarro, chicago, Gulpz, Starion

Welcome to my life guys!

First Time(s)...

When i came back from KL last May, it was in Reyes Salon where I had my haircut done. It was a mess! If only I had been patient waiting for my turn in Benchfix then sana ok yung hair ko. Buti na lang I know how to set it using L'oreal. How I wish I was in KL for my hair 'coz I have a chinese stylist there (Rave) who knows the style that fits me. Anyway, so nadala na ko sa Reyes kaya nagsearch ako sa internet and I read a lot of positive feedbacks about Tony and Jackey Salon. So gora kami ni Zel sa SM San Lazaro. She needs to have Dental Xray din kasi. It was my first time in SM San Lazaro. And wala lang it's the usual SM setting.  After the xray, punta na kami sa Tony and Jackey, 3rd or 4th floor ata. I forgot...the staff were very nice and accommodating.  There are 3 Korean stylists there but 2 lang yung naremember ko ung name - Eddie and Jamie.  And si Eddie ung stylist ko. cute Korean guy with glasses. At first worried ako kasi I thought they can't understand English. Pero nkaka-English nman pla sila. Medyo suplado cya and in 10-15 minutes tapos na ung hair cut. Parang ndi naman nya nacapture ung gusto kong style. Zel had her haircut as well and it was nice with curly effects pa. Pero sabi ni Zel, oks nman daw ung style sakin. Maybe I'm used to Rave's 1 hour of hair cutting session. hehehe...Basta I'm not satisfied.  From San Lazaro,  we went to Trinoma to meet Ram and EJ. We applied for credit card sa RcBc kasi ID lang requirement. Kahit blocklisted na ko, go pa din! hehehe...It was my first time in Trinoma since I came back from KL...Tapos sa nagstarbux, then nagwindow shopping, then we ate....then picture taking, then uwi na.....wait, yung Malaysian Flag sa pix, we bought that in National Bookstore.  Kakatuwa, reminds me of KL memories.  Iwagayway na yan!

My First "Iskrambol"

August 28, 2010 (Saturday)

This is my first time to eat scramble. Parang kahapon lang ito yung topic namin nila Emil and Marie sa training. I have never ever tasted this famous street food 'coz when I was a kid, my mom won't allow me to do so. We had a neighbor na nag-50-50 sa hospital dahil sa pagkain ng dirty scramble. Emil told us that there's a stall in the malls that sells scramble. Sakto naman when I went to Robinson's Galleria with Zel, Ram and EJ ay na-sight ko 'tong Manila Scramble Stall. I've been so curious and intrigued about it for the past 18 years so I don't wanna miss it. This is the moment! Hehehe. And guess what, pinipilihan ito ng mga tao (adults and teenagers). We bought the largest size for only P17 lang naman. Medium costs P14 while Small costs P7. It's made up of finely crushed ice with pink vanilla flavored syrup with your choice toppings (candy sprinkle, mallows, rice crunch, etc...). Then meron din itong choco and strawberry syrup and powdered milk that makes it very creamy. I felt so fulfilled the moment it landed on my taste buds. hehehe. Sarap pala niya. Hahaha. Super enjoy. Next time ulit.

Jinuman!!!

August 27,2010

It's payday so we decided to go out and cyempre jinuman na 'to! Initial plan was to treat Doms, our trainer, at "cook book" but since not everyone was able to withdraw on time, the "Tomador club" (i'm a certified member) decided to have our own night out. Marge, Dan, Emil, Fred, Dianne and me went to Starion in cubao. It's not the sosyal place to be but we recommend this videoke place for its very economical value. Was invited by Dianne there last week so I'm quite familiar with it already. We immediately ordered a bucket of Red Horse while Marge and Dan are competing to get the highest score in singing. I'm actually the most conservative drinker in the tropa.  I only drink San Mig Light but I got no choice since the tomadors insisted for Red Horse. After a not-so-delicious meal, served by the antipatika waitress, Marge and Dan left. Shortly, Doms arrived. A few more buckets were ordered (knowing Doms, he is a strong drinker..ehehe). We all sang and danced and partied all night long 'til the waitress needed to stop us due to their closing time. I was kinda drunk already (it was my first time I danced in front of our trainer...so embarassing...hehehe). We then went to Starbucks Araneta to chill-out. Suddenly, there came a bunch of familiar guys - TL Rojem and TL Stephen with 2 Attrition 8 agents and Bevs and Jec. Inuman na nman ito. Nag-Padi's pa kami. Grabe one whole shift akong jumjinom. 10 Am, super antok na ko kaya umuwi na kami ni Fred. Borlogs ako pagdating ng house. It was a long day of drinking spree but I had a great time.

Black Eyed Peas in Sunway

The first ever concert I watched in KL was the Black Eyed Peas concert.
This was Sept 25, 2009. Nag-half day ako sa work just to watch this.
As usual, my reason was I needed to pick-up a friend from the airport.
Sabi nga nung office mate ko hindi na daw ako naubusan ng Pinoy friend na
sinusundo sa airport. Hahaha. So I went to Ginger's place so we can prepare.
All black ung dress code. 8 pm was the start of the concert so mga 5 pm
pa lang nasa Sunway na kami with Maan (Ginger's sister). Sa Sunway Lagoon
tlga ung venue so I'm excited coz it's my first time to be there. It's like a resort
sa likod ng Sunway Mall. Ok 'tong mall na toh kasi may replika ng Pyramid (just
like in Egypt). We had dinner muna so we have enough energy to party.

Super dami ng tao kaya we were really rushing the moment the gates were
opened. No food, drinks and cameras allowed. Kainis dba?!. Ok na din coz we were
in front of the stage. Grabe ung sigawan ng mga tao. Super sigaw din kami
cyempre hehehe. Bad trip kc ang daming opening acts, eh hindi naman namin
maintindihan coz they are chinese singers. Famous daw ung mga singers na yun sa
Taiwan. Anyway, naki-jamming na rin kami. Mga 10 pm na when the BEP finally
showed-up sa stage. Super super talaga yung sigawan. I can't believe that
Fergie is in infront of me. She is so pretty and sexy. She looks better in person
rather than on TV. She looks like a doll. Super sigaw, talon and dance ang mga
audience lalo na when theyperformed "I got a Feeling" and "Boom Boom Pow".
We also cheered for Apl de Ap
(Pinoy eh), Will I am and dun sa long hair (gwapo pala un in person). Super enjoy
tlga kahit super init because of the spotlights....Hope to see them again!

Malaysia Boleh!

And so the bus conductor shouted "Puduraya". Ram and I immediately got off pulling our huge luggage and carry-on bags. It was a quick ride from SG, 3-4 hours. We left SG at 11 PM and arrived in Kuala Lumpur by 3 am. So funny that Ram left his jacket in the bus. He said he panicked when the conductor shouted. Hahaha. How I wish the Philippines has a neighboring country where you can easily cross the border. Hehehe.

Ram has arranged for his friend, Ginger, to pick us up from Puduraya. Starving while waiting, we decided to eat at Mc Donald's. Ram had a lot of stories about Ginger. They used to be colleagues here in Manila back when they were still working in a call center in Ortigas. And so Ginger came. Was able to finally meet this pretty girl. We then went to her condo - Angsana Hilir.Niceplace,3-bedrooms,fully-furnished. From there I could see the Petronas Twin Towers - amazing! breath-taking! I know I'll be able to go there nearer!

The next day, Ginger went to work so we were left in the house. In the afternoon, her sister, Maan picked us up and brought us to a place in Melia (in front of Time Square). It was her birthday and guess what, we were in a club! Yahooo! I met her friends - cel, gopal, sajid, and her Pakistani bf - Atif. It was the best time to unwind.

What was supposed to be a 5-day stay eventually became 1 year and 3 months. Malaysia has become my 2nd home since then. Sad that Ram left after 3 months due to some personal issues with his long time partner in Manila.

At first, I thought that Malaysia was just like Manila but in the long run, I realized that it was way different. Three unique cultures in one country - Malay, chinese and Indian. But I have to say, nothing compares to the Filipina beauty. Hehehe.

I was there for more than a year and got myself into their culture. I have been to most of the places (Perak, Johor, Port Dickson, et...), especially to the North Border, as I needed to exit to Thailand every now and then.

Partially learned their language - Bahasa Malayu....I'm a fast learner you know...hehehe

Selamat Datang - it's like "mabuhay" or welcome

Selamat Pagi - Good MOrning

and a lot more....

The Petronas symbolizes the Malaysian "Dream" for many. It stands proudly in the city center over towering KL's High Rise buildings. You can see it anywhere you go.Shopping is one of the best part in KL. It's cheap but quality is good. Best place to shop - Sungei Wang Plaza and Time Square and china town. Pavillion, KLcc (mall in Petronas), and MIdvalley are quite expensive. Low yat Plaza - famous for electronic gadgets. Tropicana Square and One World - parang Trinoma.

Food is spicy. I miss the flavored fried rice - Nasi Goreng, Nasi Goreng china, Nasi Goreng Kampung and I also miss the Roti canai, ayam ketchup, chicken satay, and dimsum. The cincau tea, sugarcane juice and barley ice are very refreshing. My favorite though is the Watermelon shake and milo ice in Showru. I also enjoyed eating at the "Mamak" (Indian cafeteria in the streets).

Best place to party - Hardrock, Rum Jungle, Beach club, Bangsar area, Zouk, Mumbai Se. We usually go to the Rain club at the Kelana Jaya Plaza, which is, 3 mins away from my place so it's easy to go home whenever I get drunk and to Palace Bar if we want to go for KTV. The
owner (Datu Ang) knows us very well already and the Filipino waiter (Argel) has been a good friend of ours. Before I came to KL, I don't know how to sing, but since we're rehearsing our vocal cords every week, my golden voice improved. hahaha....and how can I forget Borneo Rain Forest, where an immigration checking was announced while cel, ginger, and me are enjoying on the dance floor. And also the Ministry of Sound (M.O.S.), the most crowded club in Sunway.

Best place to stay? - my place - Shang Villa. I used to live with Ginger and the gang in Angsana Hilir when I was still working at the Ritz-carlton (Taray!)...but when I transferred to RAIG Holdings, the company got me a place that is a 5-min walk away from the office - Shang Villa. I have all the memorable experiences there. I lived with my manager, Ms, Jaswin (daming eksena ng ghurl na ito, na-stress ako) who is a Punjabi ghurl (so I learned some Hindi songs), chitra and Vin Vinn (my roommate for a short time), who is a flight attendant trainee in Malaysia Airlines. Super shala ang place, super duper fully-furnished and the owner even bought me new furniture for my room (bed, sofa, cabinet, et...), aircon to the max kmi sa loob ng house, sa room, sa kitchen. Hehehe. Life has been very convenient for me at the Shang. And the view from our unit (14/F) is breath-taking. There is a chinese restaurant downstairs that serves "pork" secretly (coz Malaysia is a Muslim country so pork is prohibited), a swimming pool where ginger and I will swim late at night (ginger went home to Manila then eventually came and got a room in another unit at the Shang), and there's Showru, a food court that serves goodMalaysian, chinese and Malaysian Food. I just realized that life there is way too different here. I didn't earn that much but a comfy life is access. The standard is really different.

Landmarks - Petronas Twin Towers!...the moment I saw it upclose, I was really ecstatic! It is the tallest twin towers in the world. Wow! so gigantic! I am really in KL!!! ...I remember, we toured around our 2 Norwegian Friends (Tom and Oystein) there and we took funny pictures. hehehe.

I will never ever forget my KL experience. I've met new people, experienced different cultures, gained a lot of friends and I've become a better person. It was a blast!

Singapore Singapore!!!

Yooohooo!!! I'm indeed in Singapore!

All set for Singapore. Booked my ticket as early as Oct 2008 scheduled for Feb 2, 2009. Am I not that excited??? hehehe. It is because cebu pacific had a promo and I had my ticket booked on the promo deadline. Thanks to Mommy Mitch's credit card. I thought I couldn't make it. Lucky me! Haha!

We (with Ram and TL Mae) have been secretly planning this for quite sometime already 'coz we don't want our OM to know that we are resigning. Ram - Australia, TL Mae - Singapore and Me - Dubai - White Lies!!!...Sorry OM...the truth is we're all together in SG. OM doesn't want me to resign so she gave a month of LOA. BUt then I resigned eventually.

TL Mae's flight was 2 weeks ahead of mine while Ram's was a week before mine. I was excited but quite anxious 'coz it will be my first time there but I guess I'm ready, did some researh about SG. In fact, I was too early. Flight is at 6:25 am but there am I, 3:30 am at the boarding area. I was at the Economy class but I availed the extra legroom so I can stretch my legs and sit comfortably. As if my height is 6 feet. I was just curious to try 'coz United Airlines offers this Economy Plus seat.

Ram and TL Mae picked me up at the Airport and went to my apartment near Al-Junied MRT station (as in 10 tumblings lang). hehehe. We were like 6 pax in one room, all Filipinos trying their luck to find a job. They were all very nice and helpful. Ram's place is in Bukit Panjang (so far) while Mae is just a station away.

Our main goal is to find a job and at the same time to tour SG. Thanks to my netbook, it was easy to apply online. We would buy Newspaper and walk-in in the morning 'til afternoon under the heat of the sun. We've been to a few interviews. I also met some friends from Sykes and gave us tips on job-hunting. There were a lot of jobs but due to the Global Economic Recession, companies tend to prioritize the locals. I kept my faith and remained positive.

And since we're already in SG, why not tour around after a day of hardwork, hehehe.

SG is an expensive city. Everything is organized, less pollution as compared here, people have a sense of discipline, there's a mix of culture (chinese, Malay, Indian). With our maps and booklets, we toured the city via MRT.

MRT - there's that distinct smell inside. I really couldn't figure it out. Hehehe. You can use the LRT card in McD. Amazing! hehehe. As long as you have a map, you won't be lost. SOme stations are like malls already - huge and super underground.

Orchard Road - there are a lot of Filipinos there specially in Lucky Plaza. It's like the "tambayan" of our kababayans. There was one time I was craving for Adobo so we went there just to eat. Grabe, even if it's expensive, I really ordered a lot - lechon, bbq, pork chop, ginataang kalabasa, pakbet, torta...Nkakamiss tlga Pinoy food!

Sentosa - they say it's a man-made beach. It's just a train away from the city proper. Loved the beach. I felt like I was in the carribean. There are a number of foreigners there enjoying the heat of the sun.

Esplanade - it's Durian-like architeture really amazes me. I was able to go inside. We went to this mall and took the underground passages. Surprisingly, when we went-up, we were already inside the Esplanade. cultural shows and events are being held outside as well.

Not far from the Esplanade is the Merlion (the famous landmark), Marina Bay and the Singapore Flyer. It was really beautiful especially at night when all the lights are glowing. Quite romantic. hehehe.

Nightlife? - Zero!!! So sad that We never had the chance to party due to budget constraints. Hhi.

chicken chop rice - Naumay ako sa food na ito. Morning, Noon and Night yan ata ung kinakain ko with Ice cold Sugarcane juice. It's cheap kc - $2 only. Kaya naman I really craved for Pinoy Food. Before I left for SG, my mom bought me a dozen of Lucky Me Pancit canton, sachets of powdered juice, and pack of biscuits. Thanks Mom!

I was not able to tour that much 'coz Ram's Visa was about to expire already and decided to join him to cross the border to Malaysia. Initially, my plan is just to stay there for 3 - 5 days then go back to SG again. I just wanna see the Petronas. So after my 3 weeks stay in SG, we're all set for Malaysia.

Happy Birthday to Me - April 30

Gosh it took sometime for me to write in here...April 30 was my 28th Birthday...i'm getting older and older each year but still young at heart...hehehe...We went out that Friday night - me, Vin and Ms Jaz...went to this club called Rain which is nearby our place...had some few drinks...one thing I wont forget, since it was my Birthday, the German waiter Gerold, who happens to be our friend and who happens to like Ginger, gave me this flaming drink...i took it and my stomach started to grumble...hehehe...while in the car on our way home...i started to puke in Jaz's car...what a shame...hehehehe...i used to drink a lot but never puke...blame that flaming drink!!!...good thing Vin rubbed my back...hehehehe...A week ago he said he couldn't make it for my bday coz he needs to go back to Taiping...I thought he was serious (well, he really was)...but I dunno what changed his mine...The night before that (b-day eve), i slept early coz i'm sad coz all i thought he won't be there on my special day...when the clock striked at 12 mdn...he woke me up with some repeated slaps on my face...wrapped me in the blanket and tickled my sides...i was like suffocating...well, he always physically abuses me...hahaha...then when I was about to sleep again, he said "Happy Birthday"...he said it was his way of greeting me so it's memorable...hahaha...what a harsh way of greeting someone....Saturday night, they surprised me again with this little cake...thanks Vin and Ms jazz....I dont know what's in store for me or where am i bound to...Thank you Lord for your guidance...please continue to shower your blessings upon me.....And by the way my FB was flooding with hundreds of greetings...even until the next two days...thanks to all my friends...a simple day as it maybe, but it was one of my happiest birthdays...

Throwback to the 80's

Slept early last night (27/04), which I don't normally do. Got carried away with the mellow songs that my roommate played. Never thought he knew a lot of oldies.

Sometimes, it just feels right to go back to basics and listen to some oldies and pay tribute to the music artists who have paved the way for modern music. In fact, old songs would make you feel more relaxed and peaceful. I would like to share our playlist: ( I actually checked grooveshark and restored the songs we played)

1. Color of the Night (which I don't know and apparently Vinn knows...hehehe)
2. Endless Love (i like the mariah-luther version though)
3. Especially for You (my fave Kylie song)

4. Crazy for You (nothing beats Maddy's version)
5. Don't Know Much (gosh, it's my fave oldies now. Ginger amazes me whenever she sings the high notes)

6. All Out of Love (my videoke piec...hehehe)

7. Hard to Say I'm Sorry

8. Without You
9. Close to You (gosh...reminds me of Felecel who can sing the Carpenter's album in one videoke session)

10. Every Shalala

11. The Power of Love

12. Right Here Waiting

13. Wonderful Tonight

14. Woman in Love (surprisingly Vinn knows this...)

15. Up Where We Belong

16. Against All Odds

17. Eternal Flame

18. It Might be You (Makes me giggle...hehehe)

19. Take My Breath Away (I like jessica simpson's cover too)
20. Tonight I Celebrate My Love

21. Total Eclipse of the Heart

We dozed off at 8 PM, woke up at 2 AM...I felt so rejuvenated but the problem is, I couldn't sleep anymore...hehehe...So I was late at work for 1 minute...

Spoiler of the Day

I don't understand why some people insists to squeeze in money from you to buy cans of beer when in fact, your rental is not yet due. Not my problem anymore if you don't have cash. Just please don't spoil our day. And besides, don't make things complicated....have a life!

Lessons from Kiddo

It's quite odd to hear the lessons in life from someone who is way younger than you. Surprising as it maybe, but today it happened. I'm 27, turning 28 in the next few days and honestly, I've never viewed life so seriously. But I'm not saying that I'm an easy-going or happy-go-lucky person. But there's this roommate of mine who's a few years younger and thinks like someone my age or older than me.

He gave me some sort of an inspirational speech about life. About the Laws-of-Attraction, about being positive, about owning your own life and business, about spending each second memorable, about friendship nd trusting people, about love, about his future...and about a lot of things that I didn't really care about when i was his age. I was like mesmerized and speechless. Funny that what I thought him in the last 3 weeks that we were roommates were sort of a crap - slang words (sicko, kiddo), dance moves (coz his body was stiff but he improved now..hahaha), and other funny stuff. I just felt like I was the younger one.

When I was his age, I just go with the flow. I want to be rich but I never really had a concrete plan about it. hehehe..I want to be in love, but I'm scared to be hurt and take the risk. I want to stand by myself, but I don't have the guts. I want to be free, but I don't have the courage. If only I could turn back time, If only I could be what I am now a few years back...Will it change everything?

So sad that we can be together in a limited time only. We might be living separate lives soon, but the lessons he taught me will serve as an inspiration and the memories will surely make me smile....gosh! am i getting so cheezzyyy....he's gonna laugh when he reads this...

Vin, you'll definitely be missed!
